My Tutoring Approach
I teach reading and spelling through a sounds‑first, speech‑to‑print approach that helps children understand how spoken sounds connect to written letters and patterns. Instead of memorizing words, students learn to notice, decode, and apply the logic of English, building confidence and independence as readers and writers. Each session follows a consistent, supportive structure:
A quick warm‑up to activate prior knowledge
A short read-aloud to ground new learning in meaningful context
Explicit instruction in a new spelling pattern or concept
Guided practice with decodable text
Sentence writing practice
Targeted work on high frequency words, vocabulary, fluency, or writing, as needed
A brief reflection so students understand what they learned and why it matters
My goal is to give students practical tools they can use in their school work.
